This is one the easiest recipes and tastes great. We made this in our cooking classes. The menu was basmati rice, chicken vindaloo, palak paneer and dates raitha. This salad cooled off the hot vindaloo.! I found this recipe in a cook book at the library, I cant seem to remember who the author is
Ingredients
Dates – 10 chopped finely
Raisins – 2 tbsp
Green apple – 1 chopped
Yogurt – 1 cup
Salt & pepper to taste
Ground cumin – 1 tsp
Combine all the ingredients and serve chilled. This will keep well for about 2 days if stored in the refrigerator. Add fresh grapes for that added crunch.
If chandrika accepts this late an entry, I will submit this for http://akshayapatra.blogspot.com/2007/11/afam-november-dates.html

apples, dates, so many flavors! This would even make a great dip with spicy crackers!

wonderfull recipe very creative looks delecious
Hi Shankari, Thats a lovely co-incidence, since just a couple of days ago, we were experimenting with dates kheer as part of Ayurvedic cooking. It was yummy, just as your raita looks. At home, we always add slivers of dates to a lot of deserts, like custard etc. I think your combo with green apples is truly exotic. Today’s lunch dish for sure…thanks.
BAck from india trip ?? How was it ? Congrats on your holding up part wiht the cooking classes !!
Very unique recipe Shankari. I have to definetly try this. I see that you are going to cooking school. Is it like a short term course? I did one too after coming here. I thought it was a cooking class ,but it was more of organizing and budgeting events. Anyway, it was a good experience. That’s why I was intrested in knowing about yours.
Never heard of it before. Must be really delicious! Thanks for sharing
Loved the taste of this. Tasted great with spicy bisibele bath on a snowy day!
